Differences

What are the biggest differences between the season one of the show and the books? First of all, the Pretty Little Liars hair colors. Hanna is supposed to have auburn hair, not blonde. Spencer is supposed to have blonde hair, not brown. Emily is supposed to have reddish-blonde hair, not black. Aria is the only one who resembles her character in the book. In the show all the girls go to homecoming. In the book, they are supposed to go to Foxy, the biggest social get-together in their area. Spencer’s date to homecoming, Alex, who is also her boyfriend, is not mentioned once in the book. She is supposed to go to Foxy with Andrew Campbell, the smartest boy at their school. The night of homecoming/Foxy, Toby is supposed to commit suicide after trying to break into Emily’s house. 

Emily’s family is supposed to have four children. Emily is the youngest, not an only child. Aria’s dad is supposed to move out, not her mom. One of the most jurassic changes probably has to be the time frame between Ali’s disappearance and her funeral. In the show it is only a year, in the book it is three years.
